Early Childhood is Critical

Investing in ECCDE (Early Childhood Care Development and Education) can result in not just higher incomes, but also fewer depressions and criminally inclined adults. Moreover, these benefits can be quantified in terms of healthier, better-educated, and more productive citizens, as well as a more peaceful future.

Sustainable Development Goal

Realizing its importance, UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for the first time, included Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE).

Current Challenge

National drop-out rate in India is 12.6% from school at secondary level. Lack of Basic competency in reading and arithmetic is one of the major reasons.

Lack Of Quality Education

Enrolment in schools in India is 95% for upper primary but the status of basic literacy & numeracy is very poor. According to ASER 50% of children of class 5 cannot cannot read & write and do basic numeracy. This points to the dire problem of lack of quality education being provided in our country. Current statistics available portray a worrying trend in our education.

A strong foundation of ECCE and quality Primary education is the first step to tap the potential of human resource. We at Maadhyam are trying to address the issue by making quality ECCE practices available to every child, as well as to reduce the drop-out rate by establishing a sound foundation of Literacy and numeracy in Primary.
